Seeking Wolves
Our journey started in Warsaw. A beautiful, elegant city. A quick day and a half and we were off. Driving east to the Polish border with Belarus.
Białowieża National Park, Poland
Europe's last temperate primaeval forest fragment that once allegedly stretched across the European Plain. Home to the world's largest population of European bison. The park's inner zone belongs to the realm of old-growth forest which has been living without much human intervention for almost 800 years. There are about 40 wolves living in the Polish part of the forest.
The challenge was to find them and be able to photograph them.
Find them we did. For me personally one of my most challenging experiences to photograph them.
On journey’s end my respect for them was all that much higher. My take-away though was the beauty of this northern European forest.
